 DMR RESEARCH AND FUTURE DEVELOPMENT

DMR Research Interests

After over 35 years in the fast moving technology market, DMR has learnt the value of experimentation as a method of trying to predict the way that technical developments might be harnessed to commercial advantage.

We are seeing parallel advances in technologies including audio; visual; picture and speech recognition; wireless communication; position and environment sensing; and the integration of computer components into functional devices. We conclude that the science of robotics, in its broadest sense, will become an important part of our future development.

At DMR, we have always tried to harness new technologies and develop software as the integrating 'glue' to build clever systems. We have been experimenting and investing in this area with an emphasis on the development of building blocks (the same way that we have always developed software) and a focus on a small number of commercial applications.

Our interest in the development of robotic systems has brought us into contact with topics as diverse and complementary as virtual reality; computer gaming; GPS; radio control models; mobile Internet; 3rd Generation telephones; artificial intelligence; and visualisation techniques. Brought together, these seem capable of creating the next big step change in our industry. We are working with other independent companies and like minded individuals, committing to the OpenSource development community and seeking to encourage standardisation as the basis of constructive innovation. Our DMR Video Services web site illustrates spin-off developments and the DMR Robotics web site provides a focus for our collaborative developments whilst our Products page illustrates our initial commercial targets.
